Consciousness: Terra Incognita
What is consciousness? Let's see what the International Dictionary of Psychology (1989) has to say:
Consciousness: The having of perception, thoughts, and feelings; awareness. The term is impossible to define except in terms that are unintelligible without a grasp of what consciousness means. That is all.
Consciousness is a fascinating but elusive phenomenon: it is impossible to specify what it is, what it does, or why it evolved. Nothing worth reading has been written about it.

"Nothing worth reading has been written about it" -- including, presumably, the entry in which this comment appears. There's a name for this sort of...paradox or whatever, isn't there?
